The Trustees are immensely proud to be announcing a £10,000 donation to Fisher House, the home from home for service men and women attending Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and their families. This will keep the Thurlestone Room going for another year and provide much needed stability and contact for those requiring surgery or treatment while in hospital. Read more about the Thurlestone room here.
The feedback from Fisher House has been impressive:
"As a little update, over the last five years Fisher House has given over 21,000 nights of free accommodation to military patients and their families. It has hosted over 3,700 guests with over 800 of these being military patients themselves. We have seen a significant increase in usage of the house with 2017 seeing 971 people staying against 656 in 2016.
The impact of your support was potentially a monetary saving during that year of £38,000 in hotel and accommodation fees for UK military families who would have needed to stay in hotels whilst their loved one was being treated at QEHB."
We would love to hear from you if you know of any soldier (whether current or past), family member or any project that might benefit from our help.
